Offices in Mollet | architectural contest

Making images for competitions is one of our facet as an architectural visualization company. We have been doing it for over 20 years.
Each architect has his signature, his particularly style. A project is something personal. Beyond the proposal, the architect always tries to convey more.

The number of images

Explaining and suggesting often cause a dilemma. There are a lot of examples of competitions in which the winner barely performs images. The project’s author trusts the jury will understand, just with the planimetry, the interest of his project, its essence.

In other cases, a single image is performed, two at most, to convey the essentials of the project. In fact, few buildings “endure” being brilliantly photographed from multiple viewpoints. I said convey and I did it intentionally.
Because, finally, the third aptitude in relation to representation, is to explain. The building may have a certain complexity and the author does not trust the spatial skills of the jury in understanding the proposal. Therefore, multiple viewpoints are shown. There is little chance for imagination to draw conclusions.

As usual, the balance will find the right answer.

Images style

As I mentioned, this is personal. In general, non-transferable. In fact, this attempt to customize the result “force” some architectural firms to prefer perform the images in their own study.
In most cases, the lack of experience or means in this aspect of the presentation makes the style possibilities are reduced. We usually find collage images that surely had their day as paradigms of the “architect look”. I see it as a legitimate option provided that it is chosen by conviction to be the most appropriate to the time and the particular style of the firm. Not because it hides the inability to perform them with other style.
The range of possibilities between an “author” image and a “developer” one is much broader that you might think a priori.

In this competition, I participate as the co-author of the project.
We considered the possible configuration of the jury and decided not to leave anything up to fate.
We performed multiple images with a hybrid style between reality and suggestion.
I would like to say that these discussions were rewarded with success, but unfortunately they did not. However, I think we were right about the presentation.

There are many factor that determine success in achieving a prize in a competition and, unfortunately, we are not always right at all.
